Lactate Balance Point Testing:

What is Lactate Balance Point (LBP)? Recognizing the flaws in standard lactate testing, Canadian exercise physiologist, Feldman and Chlebek created a test to measure when the body clears lactate (called lactate balance point), not on how much lactate the body produces (which can vary widely from day to day). The FaCT test is used by professional endurance athletes and Olympians.

Knowing your LPB will help you become a better athlete. It will tell you how hard you should climb that next hill and how much you can push during your next race before blowing-up. You will be able to create accurate training zones and see significant improvements by raising your performance (wattage or velocity) at LBP.

Lactate Balance Point can change over time. It is recommended to re-test when you feel like you have improved to re-set your new zones.

The Reagan ChiroSport Performance Lab is the only FaCT certified center in Texas.

VO2 Testing:

What is VO2? Volume of Oxygen consumed (VO2) is the maximum amount of oxygen the body can absorb during maximum or exhausting exercise. In other words, it is a measure of how fit your cardiovascular system is. Knowing your velocity/speed at VO2 (vVO2 and pVO2) is an accurate way to determine training zones and improving the function of the heart. For many, this is the gold standard. By looking at VO2 relative to other biomarkers such as LBP, a trained coach can gain insight into your physiological strengths and weakness that a single test alone will not show.

Classic Lactate Testing:For those familiar with "classic" lactate testing, Reagan Sports Performance measures lactate threshold using traditional protocols as well. For those wanting to know their mean lactate steady state or other standard biomarkers based on lactate testing, this is for you. You will be able to create training zones by HR, power, and/or pace.

Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR):

What is RMR? Resting metabolic rate is the energy required by a human to stay alive with no activity. Knowing your RMR is an important first step when creating a nutrition program. Eating less than your daily RMR results in a lower metabolism and will have consequences to long-term weight management. After this test, you will be able to determine your metabolic "sweet spot" to lose inches the healthy way.

Body Composition:

Body Composition measures the amount of lean weight vs. body fat of the individual. It is a more accurate reflection of "fatness" than body mass index (BMI). Knowing your Body Composition is important for setting realistic and healthy weight loss goals.

Bike Fitting:

The RCSC Performance Lab also specializes in triathlon bike fitting. We use video analysis and computrainer to get it right. Fits can take as long as 2 hours initially, with follow-ups taking much less time. You would not want to wear the wrong size shoe, so why ride an ill fitting bike? A proper bike fit not only improves performance, it creates and safer and more comfortable riding position that will enhance your cycling experience.

R.O.M. Assessment:

Range of Motion Assessment (R.O.M.) measures the flexibility of the athlete that is important for both performance and safety. The assessment is based on C.H.E.K. protocols by a certified C.H.E.K. practitioner. Knowing your R.O.M. will help guide your stretching and strengthening program to improve your performance and keep you injury free. This should be an essential assessment for all serious athletes concerned with their health and long-term performance.

Running Gait Analysis:

Video analysis is utiliazed by our carefully trained and certified coaches to evaluate your gait. Drills and exercises will be prescribed based on your needs. Sessions take one hour.
